This hot dish is the ultimate pantry meal. Five different soups create layers of creamy, savory flavor, while canned chow mein noodles add crunch on top and throughout. It feeds a crowd and everyone loves it.

Kitchen Tips

  • Drain the beef: After browning, pour off excess grease so the casserole doesn’t end up swimming in fat.
  • Mix soups thoroughly: Stir all five soups together with the beef until completely combined. Lumpy soup pockets aren’t appetizing.
  • Reserve noodles for topping: Folding all the noodles into the mixture makes them soggy. Keep one-third aside to sprinkle on top for guaranteed crunch.

Variations

  • Use ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version
  • Add frozen mixed vegetables like peas, carrots, or corn with the soups
  • Top with shredded cheddar cheese during the last 10 minutes of baking
