60 minThis is old-school comfort food at its finest. Ground beef, egg noodles, and a creamy triple-cheese sauce made with cream cheese, cottage cheese, and sour cream all come together in one gloriously hearty casserole.
Tomato sauce ties everything together with a savory backbone, and sliced fresh tomatoes layered on top add a bright pop of color and freshness.
You get two cooking options here: simmer it on the stovetop for a quick 5-minute finish, or bake it in the oven for that bubbly, golden casserole experience. Either way, it feeds five hungry people and leaves zero leftovers.
Chef Tips
- Drain the ground beef well after browning so the casserole doesn’t get greasy
- Soften the cream cheese to room temperature so it melts smoothly into the mixture
- For a stovetop version, keep stirring frequently so the cheese doesn’t stick to the bottom
