Bisquick baking mix forms a tender base while eggs and milk create a custardy filling studded with sweet sauteed onions and plenty of sharp cheddar cheese.
Cut into bite-sized squares for appetizers or larger portions for brunch.
Kitchen Tips
- Soften onions completely: Cook until translucent and sweet before adding to the batter
- Beat egg first: This helps everything blend smoothly when you add the other ingredients
- Sprinkle cheese on top: The second cup creates a golden, bubbly crust
- Make ahead: Bake, cool, and refrigerate; reheat before serving
- Test for doneness: The center should be set and a knife inserted comes out clean
Variations
- Add cooked bacon or ham for a heartier version
- Mix in sauteed mushrooms or bell peppers with the onions
- Try Swiss or Gruyere cheese instead of cheddar

Comments

Does the margarine go in the pan or the Bisquick mix?
Just updated the recipe, the onion should be sauteed with margarine.
