20 minApplesauce works magic in these cookies, replacing most of the butter while keeping them soft and chewy.
The natural sweetness and moisture from no-sugar-added applesauce means you get tender cookies studded with mini chocolate chips without the heaviness of traditional recipes.
Golden edges and a soft center make these a smart choice for anyone watching their fat intake without sacrificing dessert.
Kitchen Tips
- Use all-natural applesauce with no added sugar for best results
- Mini chocolate chips distribute more evenly throughout each cookie
- Don’t overbake; remove when edges are just golden for softest texture
- Store in an airtight container to keep them from drying out
Ingredients
Directions
Heat oven to 375℉ (190℃). Mix sugars, margarine, vanilla, and egg white in large bowl. Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir in chocolate chips.
Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown. Cool slightly; remove from cookie sheet. Cool on wire rack.
Make about 24 cookies.

The recipe instructions say mix in margarine, but there’s no butter or margarine in the ingredients list, therefore we don’t know the exact measurements. Now I can’t use this recipe. Thanks.
How much margarine????
Re missing margarine. I've seen the same thing on numerous other FF chocolate chip cookie recipes, and it was explained on one of those that it was an error to say "margarine", as the APPLESAUCE is the replacement for margarine. Someone forgot to edit the instructions to reflect the swap. Hope that helps.
