Oatmeal has had its moment. Time to give couscous a shot at the breakfast table.

This warm cereal cooks in the microwave in about 5 minutes using a mix of water and fresh orange juice. Honey, chopped almonds, orange zest, apple juice concentrate, and a dash of cinnamon turn it into something that tastes like a warm citrus morning in a bowl.

It’s low-fat, naturally sweetened, and faster than standing in line at a coffee shop. Four servings from one dish, no stovetop required.

Variations

  • Stir in dried cranberries or golden raisins after cooking for chewy fruit bursts.
  • Swap almonds for toasted pistachios or walnuts for a different nutty crunch.
  • Top with fresh berries and a drizzle of extra honey for a more substantial bowl.
