9 hrsThis ain’t no dainty dinner party dish. Male Chauvinist Chili is a big, brawny, slow-cooker powerhouse built on hot Italian sausage and ground chuck.
Bacon gets things started with a salty, smoky base, then the sausage and beef join the party along with pinto beans, chickpeas, jalapenos, and a heap of Roma tomatoes. Toss everything in the crock pot, set it on low, and walk away for 8 to 14 hours.
When you come back, the whole house smells like game day and the chili is thick, rich, and ready to serve.
Pro Tips
- Brown the bacon until truly crisp before adding it to the crock pot; limp bacon disappears into the chili but crispy pieces hold their texture
- Drain the sausage and beef mixture well after browning to keep the chili from getting greasy
- This chili gets even better the next day, so make a big batch and refrigerate the leftovers
