Savory supper bread baked in a pie pan with chopped ham, sharp cheddar, mustard, and sesame seeds mixed into a Bisquick batter. Cut into warm wedges for the easiest weeknight dinner or brunch.

60 minThis is one of those genius, everything-in-one recipes that lands somewhere between a savory quick bread and a crustless quiche. Bisquick batter gets loaded up with chopped ham, grated cheddar, onion, and a kick of mustard, then baked in a pie pan until golden.
More cheddar and sesame seeds go on top with a drizzle of melted butter that crisps everything up as it bakes. The result is a warm, savory bread that’s crusty on the outside and soft and cheesy inside.
Cut it into wedges and serve it as a main course with a side salad, or bring it to a potluck where it’ll disappear in minutes.
Kitchen Tips
- Use leftover holiday ham or deli ham, chopped into small pieces for the best distribution
- Grease the pie pan well since the cheese can stick as it bakes
- Serve warm from the oven when the cheese is still stretchy and the edges are golden and crisp

This recipe has been a family favorite since 1971 when I found it on my Bisquick box while stationed in Japan. I don't add the onion due to some allergy problems but we love this recipe.
