This taco beef uses just four real ingredients (ground beef, salsa, chili powder, and cumin) to make taco meat that actually tastes like food instead of a chemistry experiment.
Brown the beef, stir in the salsa and spices, and let it simmer until all that liquid cooks down into a saucy, well-seasoned filling that clings to every bite.
Use it for tacos, pile it on tostadas, scatter it over salad greens, or stuff it into burritos. It’s a base recipe that earns its spot in the weekly rotation.
Chef Tips
- Drain the beef well after browning. Pouring off the excess fat keeps the filling flavorful without being greasy.
- Use your favorite salsa. Chunky, smooth, mild, or fire-roasted. The salsa you choose shapes the whole flavor profile, so pick one you love.
- Simmer until the liquid is absorbed. You want saucy, not soupy. The meat should hold together on a tortilla without dripping everywhere.
