Every family has one of these recipes tucked into a recipe box somewhere, and there’s a reason it keeps getting pulled out.

Strawberry Jello loaded with mashed bananas, crushed pineapple, and undrained frozen strawberries gets split into two layers with a thick spread of sour cream in between. The sour cream adds a cool, tangy stripe that cuts through all that fruity sweetness.

Pour half the mixture into the pan, chill until set, spread the sour cream, then top with the rest. That’s genuinely the whole process.

Cut into squares and bring it to the next family gathering. Watch it disappear first.

Kitchen Tips

  • Use undrained frozen strawberries; the syrup adds sweetness and helps the Jello set with more berry flavor
  • Let the first layer set fully (30 to 45 minutes) before adding the sour cream, or the layers will blend together
  • Drain the crushed pineapple if you want firmer Jello; leave it undrained for a softer, more fruit-forward texture
