Grilled kielbasa skewers glazed with maple syrup and Dijon mustard. A three-ingredient appetizer that hits sweet, smoky, and sharp all at once.

Three ingredients, a hot grill, and about ten minutes of work, these kielbasa bites are the kind of appetizer that disappears before the drinks are poured. Smoky Polish sausage, maple syrup, and Dijon mustard, nothing else needed.

The glaze does double duty as dip and finish. Whisk maple syrup and Dijon until smooth, dredge each cube through the mixture, and thread onto skewers. Any leftover glaze becomes a brushing sauce during grilling or a dipping sauce on the side.

Medium heat is the target, not high. The sugar in the maple will scorch if the grill is too hot, turning your glaze bitter and black before the sausage warms through. About three minutes per side gives you caramelized edges and a warm center.

Kielbasa is already fully cooked, so grilling is purely about heat and texture. Watch for the glaze to bubble and darken to mahogany, that is when to pull them off. Serve warm with extra mustard on the side.

Pro Tips

  • Soak wooden skewers 20 minutes before threading to prevent charring.
  • Pat the sausage pieces dry before dipping so the glaze clings.
  • Leave half inch gaps between pieces on the skewer for even heat contact.
  • Use real Grade A maple syrup, pancake syrup will scorch faster and taste one-dimensional.
