40 minThree layers of pure indulgence, and you don’t even have to turn on the oven.
The crust is a chocolate-on-chocolate situation: melted semi-sweet chips mixed with crushed chocolate wafer crumbs, pressed into a pie pan and chilled until firm. A slick of homemade fudge sauce spiked with Kahlua goes down next.
Then comes a thick layer of coffee ice cream swirled with more coffee liqueur, frozen solid until it’s scoopable and rich.
Slice it up and drizzle warm fudge sauce over the top. This is the kind of dessert that makes people go quiet at the table.
Chef Tips
- Soften the ice cream on the counter for about 10 minutes before spreading. Too soft and it melts the fudge layer; too hard and it tears up the crust.
- Freeze for at least 4 hours, but overnight is ideal for clean slices.
- Dip your knife in hot water between cuts for picture-perfect pieces.
- A crown of freshly whipped cream on each slice takes this completely over the top.
