15 minChicken salad wraps are the ideal back-pocket lunch when you’ve got leftover chicken salad (homemade or deli) and need to feed people fast. Five ingredients, no cooking, ready in five minutes flat. They pack beautifully for lunchboxes, picnics, and road trips.
Warming the flour tortillas before filling is the move that separates a wrap from a sad cold burrito. Cold tortillas crack when you fold them and the lettuce and tomato shift around inside. A warm tortilla is pliable, holds its shape after wrapping, and tastes more like fresh.
The folding sequence matters. Two opposite edges in toward the center first, then roll from one open end to the other. This is the burrito fold, and it’s what keeps the filling from leaking out of either end while you eat.
American cheese is the unexpected choice here. It’s soft, melty, and slightly salty, which actually works perfectly against the cold creamy chicken salad. Cheddar slices are a fine swap if you want sharper flavor.

- Warm tortillas in the microwave (15 seconds) wrapped in a damp paper towel, or directly over a gas flame for a few seconds per side for charred edges.

Directions
Spread warm tortilla with ½ cup chicken salad; layer with ¼ tomato, ¼ cheese and 2 lettuce leaves.
Fold two opposite edges of tortilla toward center over filling.
Roll up open end of tortilla toward opposite edge.
Repeat with remaining tortillas.
