Apple Marshmallow Waldorf Salad
Submitted by Kiss
A creamy apple marshmallow Waldorf salad: crisp Granny Smith apples, celery, walnuts, and dried fruit folded into whipped cream and mayonnaise with mini marshmallows. A retro, fluffy holiday side the whole table loves.

120 minThis is the Waldorf salad your grandmother made for the holidays, dressed up with pillowy mini marshmallows and lightened with a fold of whipped cream. Tart Granny Smith apples and crisp celery bring the crunch, walnuts add toasty bite, and a handful of raisins or dried cranberries lend chewy sweetness.
The dressing is the trick that sets it apart from the usual mayo-heavy version. Whipping the cream to soft peaks before folding in the mayonnaise gives the whole salad a light, cloud-like texture rather than a dense, gloopy coat.
A toss of lemon juice over the apples early on keeps them bright and stops them browning.
An hour in the fridge lets everything settle and the marshmallows soften into the cream. Sweet, creamy, and crunchy, it’s a holiday side that disappears fast, especially next to roast turkey.
Kitchen Tips
- Toss the diced apples with lemon juice right away. The acid keeps them from browning while you prep the rest.
- Whip the cream to soft peaks before folding in the mayo, then fold gently. Overmixing deflates the airy texture.
- Use a firm, tart apple like Granny Smith. It holds its shape and balances the sweet marshmallows and cream.
- Chill at least an hour before serving, but add the marshmallows close to serving if you want them to stay plump.
Variations
- Swap walnuts for toasted pecans, or use dates instead of raisins for a richer, caramel sweetness.
- Fold in halved red grapes or pineapple chunks for a more ambrosia-style salad.
Ingredients
Directions
Place the apples in a medium serving bowl and sprinkle with sugar, lemon juice and salt.
Stir in the celery, dates and walnuts.
In a separate bowl, whip the cream with an electric mixer until it can hold a peak.
Mix in mayonnaise and gently fold into the apple mixture along with the marshmallows.
Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.

how much mayonnaise?????????????????
Thanks for your comment to point out the missing ingredient, I just edited the recipe, and it should be 1/4 cup mayonnaise, also the it should be 1/2 cup of heavy cream instead of whipped topping, enjoy the recipe!
